U.S. EXTENDS SECTION 301 COVID-RELATED AND MEDICAL PRODUCT TARIFF EXCLUSIONS

The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) announced today that the Biden Administration is extending Section 301 Tariff exclusions on 81 medical and COVID-related products. The exclusions were set to expire on November 30, 2022, but now extend through February 2023.

“In light of the continuing efforts to combat COVID, the U.S. Trade Representative has determined that a 3-month extension of the 81 COVID-related product exclusions is warranted.”
Greta Peisch, General Counsel
Office of the United States Trade Representative

The USTR indicated that the Administration decided to extend these exclusions after reviewing input from the public, advisory committees, the interagency Section 301 Committee, and under advisement from the White House COVID-19 Response Team. Products impacted by this extension include medical devices and related products such as face masks, hospital gowns, and surgical gloves.
