Earlier today, Chinese weather authorities issued a yellow alert as conditions caused by Typhoon Kompasu worsened. The inclement weather and strong winds have forced the closure of Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT) in Shenzhen, as well as the Port of Hong Kong. Flights and ground operations at Hong Kong Airport Terminals have also been halted.

Vessels and flights calling or departing from these locations should expect delays.

Despite the high risk of flooding, port operations are expected to begin again tomorrow, October 14, 2021. Heavy rain will likely continue throughout the weekend as Typhoon Kompasu makes its way towards Northern Vietnam.
