Sustainable
Shipping through
Zero-Emission Maritime Fuels

Unlike carbon offsets, emissions reductions purchased through ZEMBA impact your value chain and directly accelerate the decarbonization of the maritime sector

Decarbonizing the Seas:
Join the Commitment
to ZE Fuels

If the shipping industry was a country, its carbon footprint would be the sixth largest in the world making it a significant factor in global carbon reduction efforts. To support this mission, shipping must move away from heavy polluting fossil-based fuels and drive demand for scalable zero-emission fuels (SZEF).

Green has partnered with the Zero Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance (ZEMBA) to help drive this demand and bring zero-emission shipping to our customers.

In 2023, the International Maritime Organization, shipping’s global governing body, published a revised GHG strategy that requires the industry to have at least 5%, but striving for 10%, zero and near-zero GHG emission fuels in use by 2030.

In 2024, the Getting to Zero Coalition’s Annual Climate Action in Shipping report declared, all actors are lagging in achieving the 5-10% goal; rapid scale-up of demand for scalable zero-emission fuels must happen.

          HOW IT WORKS

Book & Claim for Zero Emission Fuels

Cargo owners physically using the SMF vessel cannot claim reduced Scope 3 transport emissions unless they pay for the ZE fuel services

Certificates are issued on a maritime book and claim registry and can be purchased through us, Green Worldwide Shipping.

To those in the maritime sector who are hanging back, the time has passed for simply complaining about how hard this transition to new clean fuels is.

We know the challenges are real and the list is long, completely understood. But our sole focus now – in word and deed – should be on innovation to solve these problems.

The cargo owners we work with through ZEMBA are focused on exactly that – creative problem-solving to address the cost, scalability, and collaborative action challenges. I’m proud to work with them and hope the rest of the value chain and policy makers find inspiration, and accept our outstretched hand to solve this together.
