Green Worldwide Shipping® (Green) proudly announces its continuing involvement with the SmartWay® Transport Partnership. A collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the logistics industry, the voluntary SmartWay program works collaboratively with freight shippers, carriers, transport providers, and logistics partners to help reduce emissions associated with freight transport.
INCREASED SMARTWAY CARRIER USAGE
Building on the success of its inaugural partnership announcement, Green increased its use of SmartWay Partner carriers by more than 41% on a ton-mile basis during this second reporting period. Green also communicated with all members of its U.S. carrier network to spread awareness about Smartway and encourage carriers to join the program and support emissions benchmarking. These efforts support freight movement efficiency within the U.S. and contribute to reduced CO2, NOx, and PM2.5 emissions.
“The transport sector has the highest reliance on fossil fuels of any sector and is one of the largest sources of global greenhouse gas emissions. Green Worldwide Shipping recognizes the responsibility and opportunity we have to address these environmental impacts. Our commitment to the SmartWay Transport Partnership is a pillar of our dedication to sustainable logistics and an important part of our broader mission to drive environmental responsibility throughout the supply chain.”
Anne Shudy Palmer, Director of Sustainability | Green Worldwide Shipping®
SUSTAINABLE LOGISTICS IN ACTION
Green’s SmartWay partnership complements the Company’s overall sustainability mission, initiatives, and partnerships, such as Smart Freight Centre (SFC), UN Global Compact (UNGC), TAT (Truckers Against Trafficking), and the Zero Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance (ZEMBA). Green’s proprietary GreenCheck Scope 3 transport emissions technology, launched in 2023, helps U.S. businesses map, measure, and mitigate transport emissions.
