Green Worldwide Shipping® (Green) is on a journey to become one of the most sustainable and responsible transportation and logistics company in the world. In a move to combat climate change and offset Green’s 2023 Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions, Green Worldwide purchased 265.05 metric tons of carbon offsets from ClimatePartner, supporting the emPOWERing Africa renewable energy project.
“Green Worldwide Shipping recognizes the need to take urgent direct action to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions within our control. For the emissions we can’t reduce yet, we purchase high-quality carbon offsets to facilitate additional emission reductions elsewhere. We are proud to support ClimatePartner’s efforts in bringing renewable energy to the African continent.”

EMPOWERING AFRICA CONTINENT-WIDE PROJECT
Green recognizes the impact of and need for resources supporting renewable energy transition in all regions of the world. ClimatePartner’s emPOWERing Africa Continent-wide initiative expands access to clean, renewable energy across the African continent, where nearly half of the population lacks electricity. Offering a diverse portfolio of wind and solar energy projects in the countries of Madagascar, Namibia, Egypt, and South Africa, these combined projects prevent nearly 446,770 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, supporting energy access and global climate change mitigation. The emPOWERing Africa project complements Green Worldwide’s Green Trees Program, which plants a tree through Trees for the Future for every shipment, customer, and employee, supporting sustainable development in Africa.
Green Worldwide Shipping’s proprietary GreenCheck Scope 3 transport emissions technology, launched in 2023, helps U.S. businesses map, measure, and mitigate transport emissions. Learn more by visiting www.greenworldwide.com/directed-mitigation.
