GREEN WORLDWIDE 2024 Q2 TREES DONATION IMPACT
Green Worldwide Shipping® proudly supports Trees for the Future (TREES) by planting trees for each shipment, customer, and employee. The company is pleased to announce the donation of 22,849 trees in 2024 Q2 to support TREES’ work training farmers in nine African countries in sustainable land-use techniques. A total of 589,537 trees have been planted since Green Worldwide launched the Green Trees program in 2019.
AGROFORESTRY HELPS SEQUESTER CARBON DIOXIDE
TREES supports local African farmers by training them in agroforestry practices. This land-use approach incorporates food-bearing trees and shrubs with traditional crops. Farmers in the TREES program learn sustainable farming practices that improve soil health and foster biodiversity that fosters an ecosystem more resilient and better able to withstand climate change and significant weather events.
Green’s support has contributed to TREES’ land restoration efforts. TREES have been restoring land since 2014 equal to 41,345 hectares. Their work has not only helped over 50,000 local households but also captured 347 metric tonnes of CO2 per hectare – an equivalent of offsetting the emissions of 1.5 billion tons of burned coal.
TREES FOR THE FUTURE
Trees for the Future works with thousands of farming families across five countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Over its 30+ year history, TREES worked around the globe. Since 2014, TREES redirected efforts to Africa. Using the Forest Garden Approach in semi-arid countries like Senegal, TREES has proven that regenerative agroforestry solves these challenges, effectively ending hunger and poverty while restoring the land and environment.
