CBP To Launch UFLPA Forced Labor Enforcement Tool in 2023

Customs Border Protection (CBP) will introduce progressive resources on their website to comply with the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA). The tools are expected to be available in early 2023 and will provide support to U.S. importers as they evaluate the potential of forced labor in their supply chain.

CBP TOOLS & RESOURCES FOR UFLPA
  • Statistics provided on forced labor enforcement – including the probable value of goods made by forced labor.
  • FAQ’s to navigate UFLPA regulations.
  • An interactive chatbot to direct users on the website to relevant information.
  • CBP is hosting an expo in the Spring of 2023, where officials from different industries who play a role in ending forced labor will attend.
COAC RECOMMENDATIONS ON FORCED LABOR ENFORCEMENT

The Commercial Customs Operation Advisory Committee (COAC) provided guidance in an Intelligent Enforcement Subcommittee Forced Labor Working Group Draft Recommendations document.

  • CBP publish a series of visual ‘Fact Sheets’ on forced labor processes.
  • CBP develop a mechanism to receive and publish FAQ’s from the public.
  • CBP provide more detail in its quarterly.
