Port Of Savannah – All Terminals Open
Savannah Hilton Head International Airport – Open with some delays and Cancellations
Class 1 Railroads – Fully Operational
Trucking – Expect delays and road closures while road and utility crews continue to assess damages and remove debris.
Tropical storm Debby is currently moving through Florida and heading straight for Savannah. As the storm approaches, the Port of Savannah has already announced closures, and the governor has declared a state of emergency.
“As the state prepares for a major storm system early this coming week, we urge all Georgians to take precautions to keep their families and property safe. I’ve issued a State of Emergency through Thursday, August 8th.”
SUPPLY CHAIN IMPACT
The Port of Savannah is taking precautionary actions as the storm approaches. Short-term impacts will be seen with the port closed on Tuesday, but the port plans to be running at full capacity on Wednesday. Tropical storm Debby is expected to hit the port overnight Monday, August 5, 2024. The full scope of the disruption will not be known until Tuesday morning
Port Operations: The Port of Savannah implemented storm protocols and announced closures for Tuesday. The Port will update operational status as the storm moves through the area.
Class 1 Railroads: Currently, there are no service alerts from Norfolk Southern or CSX.
Savannah Hilton Head International Airport: Late flights on Monday and early Tuesday could experience delays or cancelations.
Trucking: High winds, rains, and flooding may cause infrastructure damage, impacting the road networks that connect The Port of Savannah to the rest of the country potentially impacting the movement of goods, leading to shortages and production slowdowns.
