CERTAIN SECTION 301 EXCLUSIONS EXTENDED

The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) is continuing the ongoing Section 301 investigation into China’s technology practices. This investigation, which has been in progress for several years, centers on concerns related to technology transfer, intellectual property, and innovation.

Several commodities including medical products, terry bathrobes, barbecue grill surfaces, and certain bicycles were excluded from the Section 301 tariffs levied on imports from China. This week, USTR provided notice of an extension to the 352 reinstated exclusions and 77 COVID-related exclusions. Originally set to expire in September, the relief granted by these exclusions now ends December 31, 2023.
