Hurricane Irma battered through Florida over the weekend causing widespread power outages and flooding. While landing as a Category 2 hurricane, Irma has been downgraded to a tropical storm as it travels over Florida into Georgia. The city of Tampa was spared direct impact from the hurricane, resulting in debris and light flooding. In Miami, winds exceeded 100 miles per hour knocking down two construction cranes.
Green Worldwide Shipping’s Miami office and warehouse will remain closed at this time; however, systems and personnel will be available online. Phones will be routed to headquarters in Atlanta for any urgent support.

South Carolina Ports Authority
All SCPA gate and yard operations will be open as normal on Monday, September 11. Charleston container gates will open at 0600. Empty yard operations may be impacted periodically during the day due to local weather conditions, but import and export container moves should not be impacted. Vessel operations may be impacted based on local conditions and U.S. Coast Guard actions, but this also has no impact on gate operations. Currently, no vessels are scheduled to be worked on Monday.
Port Everglades
Damage assessment is underway. Port Everglades will reopen following approval from the U.S. Coast Guard. Fuel deliveries will continue as soon as the petroleum companies at Port Everglades are able to reopen and the roads are safe for truck drivers.
Port of Miami
Port of Miami is closed. There are no passenger flights scheduled at Miami airport today. Some airlines will fly personnel and crew members to MIA in preparation for flights to resume.
